I bought the bundle and got the mini keyboard. I simply can NOT get it to stay connected. Here are some notes from my efforts:

  1. Put in new batteries....of course
  2. Kept it REAL close....as in....even right on top of the Quadra
  3. The blinking yellow light simply will not quit blinking....and the keyboard/mouse will NOT stay connected
  4. Tried the FN-F1 trick. SOMETIMES, it will make it work....briefly. But it always goes back to not workiing.
  5. What DOES make it work, is constantly switching the USB port the dongle is plugged into. As in....you plug it into a USB port....it works for a few minutes. But if you shut the mini keyboard off....or turn the Quadra off and back on later....then the mini keyboard doesn't work. However, once again, changing the USB port to the other open port with the dongle....makes it work again.....but again....only temporarily.
Bottom line. I have tried everything....and while I can get it to work for brief periods of time, it always goes back to NOT working....and requiring me to change USB ports.....over and over and over. I gave up and bought a wireless mouse and use it for daily use now. I only needed a keyboard for some of the original setup. I used one I had in the shack for the original setup. My wireless mouse of course works reliably all the time.

Has anyone else experienced this annoying lack of connectivity for the mini keyboard? Mine is pretty much useless.........................as I got sick and tired of having to CONSTANTLY keep pulling out the dongle and putting it in the other USB port....over and over and over...........

It sounds like the keyboard dongle has an intermittent connection.

since you have a working mouse, I’ll go ahead and refund your keyboard purchase.

I fully appreciate that. The Quadra is amazing. The more I dive into it, the more options and functions I am finding. There is a LOT to dive into! I'm quite pleased with the product.....minus the mini-keyboard. I have a Geochron too (digital version, not the old mechanical clock). I have both of them on a big Roku 4k 50 inch screen. One is HDMI 1 and one is on HDMI 2. After switching back and forth the first day, I find myself looking at the Quadra/Hamclock MUCH more than the Geochron.

So again, I give the product a BIG thumbs up.....and appreciate you refunding the keyboard purchase.

hey.....just asking (never hurts to ask). Don't suppose INSTEAD of refunding my credit card 10 dollars.....do you think it would be possible to INSTEAD send me one of your Quadra4K Factory Restore SD cards? I see where that costs 10 dollars. Of course, not sure about tax/shipping. But just a question. I was considering getting one of those in case I ever needed it....and Lord forbid....you guys ever went out of business. Might not ever need it....but just asking.

Another totally UNRELATED question/observation. I noticed my Quadra4k is typically running 65-75 degrees C. That seems pretty warm to me. I mean, maybe it's ok....and designed to run that warm/hot. But seems like it would shorten the life of the device? Shouldn't it run COOLER?? I even put some felt pads on the 4 little legs....trying to raise it up and get it even more air circulation under it. But it's still running 65-75 degrees C. My Ham shack typically gets kind of warm....with all my equipment running. Like the ambient air temp....when I have the door closed (to not bother the wife in the next room/living room)....gets into the low or mid 80s F easily...sometimes maybe even high 80s F. After the Quadra4K has been running a while, it always creeps up into the high 60s C and even low 70s C...sometimes peaking around 75-76 C.

Your thoughts....on the Factory Restore card....and the temperature observation...........?

Unfortunately, I did the refund right away. I have no way to undo it.

The temperature you report is fine, especially for a warm room. They typically run about 60-65 in a 70 degree room. The components are rated between 95 and 100C.

No problem.....I'm good with the refund. I'll probably just purchase the Restore SD in the near future. You know, just cheap insurance. Good news on the components. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't "abusing" the device. Even though my AC is set at 76.....my radio room....with all the equipment turned on and me talking with the amp on...and the door closed to the room....gets kind of toasty at times!

Hey Michael,

I seem to have the same problem. Every time I reboot the inovato V2 I lose the mini keyboard connection. If I unplug the dongle and plug it back in (to the same port) the connection is restored. Is there a firware update? TNX 73 Steve

I am also seeing some strangeness on a reboot or shutdown / restart.

for me, sometimes the Quadra won’t finish booting (hangs on starting systemd).  Pulling the dongle out partially until boot continues fixes it and the mini keyboard works fine.

I tried replacing batteries and that didn’t help.

I also tried an apt update / upgrade, but that didn’t resolve the issue either.

So for now, the workaround is to keep the Quadra running (and just turn of the monitor).  This is what I do.  Alternately, pull and reinsert the keyboard dongle as you found.
